Jimmy Page Tele pickups

Hello everyone, got a question about Page's famous Tele he played.
I'm interested the one you can see in a movie "It Might Get Loud" with Page, Edge and Jack White. That Tele had Jazzmaster's tremolo system and rails pickups. What pickups are they?

Re: Jimmy Page Tele pickups

It's been a few minutes since I've seen "It Might Get Loud" but I'm pretty sure that was a Bari correct??

Anyway, it's a CS Fender and the pickups are Bardens.

Bardens are some of the best pickups out there IMHO, not cheep but worth every penny.

Re: Jimmy Page Tele pickups

I detested Jack White in the movie. In my opinion he shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence or breath as Jimmy Page or The Edge, except I gues he's a representative today's music

The Edge is great in the sense that he shows you how he uses effects in the songwriting process. Plus if you're Irish, he gives you a beautiful tour if the Irish countryside.

Jimmy Page is very softspoken and laid back throughout the movie, and is god whenever he played the Led Zep riffs. Plus he takes you back to the mansion where they recorded Led Zep IV.

THANK YOU!!!

My thoughts exactly...

i agree completely, jack is good but hes just summing up old vintage tones in a modern world. hes like a hack imo.

Re: Jimmy Page Tele pickups

If anything you may come to respect The Edge more after the movie- as he describes his role more of a songwriter than a guitar player... how early on he'd get writers block, then he'd use the various guitar effects to write songs or create the sounds in his head.

Very different approach compared to those that think you have to write songs on an acoustic first in order for them to sound good.

But maybe the best- is seeing Jimmy Page go into what looks like his storage garage where all his gear is kept- just pulling out an amp and his Les Paul and sounding like god. Not to mention the record collection he's acquired and studied.. It's alot more entertaining than hearing a Keith Richards/Mick Jagger interview where they keep repeating all they were ever inspired by was the blues, yet their music is far from it

Do you know exactly which Bardens are the pickups?

Anyway, speaking 'bout the movie - it's good to see The Edge with his endless imagination and riffs of Jimmy which are pretty godlike. As for me, I'd prefer rather John Frusciante as a modern representative of today's music.

Re: Jimmy Page Tele pickups

there are basically strat bardens and tele bardens, buckers and bass stuff too but ive never been impressed with those as much.

Re: Jimmy Page Tele pickups

The edge gets so much out of so little…his two note riff that sound intricate when playe through the effects. The only time he could keep up was playing In My Time of Dying which even a hack slide player like me can play. While I'm not a big fan of Jack White, at least he can play the blues.

Page showed why he was and still is the master…a consummate musician with skills and dedication to music. He has the most incredible record collection…and the guitars and amps aren't bad either. When he played Ramble On it looked so easy and fluid. No wonder he was much sought after studio musician.

Thanks for the info on the PUPs in his tele but my guess is that Page could make even the worst guitar and pups sound amazing.

Also, the above is damn true.

Hello everyone, got a question about Page's famous Tele he played.

Er, Page has two "famous" Telecasters. The first has a rosewood fingerboard. Its body shows the grain behind the psychedelic paint job. The second is "Botswana" Brown with a maple neck.

Pictures of these and several other JP instruments are available on t'Internet.
