Re: Jimmy Page wiring harness into hollowbody
The plan was to buy a pre-made JP harness - there's a few floating around.
That will certainly make things easier.
That said, *installing* one is difficult, so be aware.
As for pickup selection - i'm yet to cross that bridge, and will make a choice once I know what guitar is headed my way.
Remember that you'll need 4-conductor pups to make the JP mod work regardless of which option you choose.
I may hold off on the hollowbody option - but it's a guitar that'd fill a void in my collection... that said a LP would be on the money too.
Oh, definitely get a 335 clone. I have 2!
And just an FYI, check out used Edwards LPs. They come with decent SD pups and wiring already installed. There's even a Jimmy Page model with the mod wiring installed.
And there's nothing wrong with DIYing the actual JP mod, but just be aware that it's probably the hardest kind of wiring job to do, especially on a 335.
Nice.
There are such nice Japanese LP models out there... I'm still jonesing for a '78-'80 Tokai.
Frankly, if you're looking for an LP anyway, I'd get it first and do the Triple Shots/JP mod I talked about.
*Much* easier to wire up yourself in the LP.
And then if you discover that you actually like/use it, pay someone else to wire it into your 335 clone and save yourself the headache.
