I am a HUGE fan of the work that Matt at Martin Six String Customs does. His work is not only impeccable, but he is one of the greatest people in the world that you will ever deal with!! His wiring harnesses are without a doubt some of the cleanest work, and provide the best tones that you will ever hear in your life. Just read about the pots that he uses. That's enough for a sale right there....lol. I have a Squire Telecaster with quarter pounders, and a Custom Shop Les Paul Classic loaded with a C5/Jazz combo. Both of them have his wiring harnesses in them, and they are just amazing sounding. I remember the first time I listened to my Les Paul after his wiring harness was installed in it. It BLEW ME AWAY!!! I know we've all heard this before, but it truly was like I had just taken a blanket off of my amp which it was being covered by. I honestly cannot say enough about Matt as a person, a person that stands behind his product, his fantastic work, his prices, and especially the way that his products have made my guitars sound absolutely amazing!!

I know you've worked hard to achieve the impeccable reputation you've earned around here, as a thoughtful and introspective individual, who spends a lot of time reading poetry and meditating. When you say you're putting your reputation on the line, it's not like one of the other chumps around here making such a claim. No sir. When you say that, people sit up and listen.

So if I'm following the description of the MSSC JP Harness correctly it looks like he has two options: JP#1 with one push/pull in the B.T. position for doing out of phase. JP#3 with a extra push/pull in the N.T. position that adds coil splitting.

Looking at the offering from jonesyblues he's going with four push/pulls and adding the options for series vs parallel, giving 21 total tone possibilities.

So I'm wondering if one setup is preferred to the other? Are the extra tone options with 4 push/pulls ones that a person would actually use?

Both MSSC and Jonseyblues are the go-to vendors on MyLesPaul. I would have no issue with parts from either, and have personally had a harness from MSSC.

Another option is James from ReWind pickups, who has a wide range of parts and hardware along with electronic bits like hookup wire, bus wire etc (along with winding some killer PAF clones too!). If you haven't got pickups yet, he has 2 sets he winds for Page tones - a pre 72 and post 72

I have nothing useful to say here, just commenting/bumping so I can follow this thread; considering same mod for my 335. And maybe Whole Lotta Humbuckers.

I'm a huge fan of Page. I have never considered his wiring harness for any of my guitars because I honestly do not think I would use more than half of the options but I always get pretty stoked when somebody is about to do it. Good luck man and Jolly knows his stuff so check it out for sure.

You won't even use half the options, but some are very nice and the appearance of your guitar is unchanged; controls all work like they normal do (except when the push-pulls are raised). Why not try it?

That's my thinking. I'm going all in with the 21 tone option and four push pulls. Blueman for my 335 I'm looking to do either a WLH set or a WLH in the neck with a 59/Hybrid in the bridge. Do you have any opinions on one versus the other?

I'd go with a WLH set myself, hard to beat. The '59/Custom hybrid is bright and thin with the stock A5 magnet. You may like that, or you may not. It's a good PU, but I prefer to use warmer magnets in the hybrids I make, as unbalanced coils add some single coil tone, and that simultaneously reduces some of the humbucker effect (humbucker effect being increased mids and reduced treble). Both parent coils of the '59/Custom are bright and thin on their own.

I def don't want bright and thin. My guitar already has too much of that going on. I'm looking for a thicker, more balanced and warmer output. Sounds like the WLH set is the way to go, unless you have any other suggestions. Thanks!

I wired the full 6 switch version myself. I use hum and parallel coils most, occasionally single coil split, rarely use phase and almost never use series, though series comes in handy coupled with phase. I have WLH in there now and I've tried it with Black Winters, and a JB / Pearly Gate combo. Single coil split worked best with a JB. Other pickups didn't sound as good with one coil.
