Jimmy Page x Fender… Coming January 2019

Clapton has sig models with both Fender and Gibson.....can't see why someone else famed for playing both can't get sig models of their iconic guitars.

Martin as well
Correct?

He did....

Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul

Also, the doubleneck.
Gibson Jimmy Page Signature Doubleneck

He had a first run of Gibsons and did't like them. He sued Gibson to stop production of them. They redesigned the model and that's where #2 came from.

What was his issue with the first runs of Gibsons?

I would think standard contract negotiations would include exclusivity, but only a handful of players (JP being one) could negotiate out of that, or have a clause that when the first run of instruments is sold, he does what he wants.

ROFLMAO!!! "the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist, perhaps the world’s most iconic Les Paul player..." anybody ever heard of a dude actually named Les Paul...guess what kinda guitar he used to play???

At least It's not a tweaked cheap Les Paul copy (in the vain of the Gibson Hendrix Strat I just learned existed.)

That's just nuts. If Gibson wanted to do a Hendrix tribute guitar why didn't they do a Flying V with finger nail polish painted graphics?

Gibson did one several years ago. They bring big money still

Pic-worthy. They even look super wonky.

The picture on the pickguard reminds of those old plastic bag and mask Halloween costumes- where you dressed up like Fonzie, and of course Fonzie had a picture of himself on all his own shirts

(I'd switch these masks & shirts to go as Fonzie playing the midget from Fantasy Island. Too bad I wasn't alive in that decade.)

I don't know what Janie Hendrix was thinking there.

Awesome! Exactly what I don't want.

The late 90s Gibson USA Jimmy Page signature was shipped with the wrong neck profile and the wrong pickups. The neck on his #1 was re-shaped by hand, but it's pretty close to a '60 slim taper. The late 90s sig model had a '59 neck profile and a 496R/500T pickup set.

Gibson Custom Jimmy Page Guitar Nominated for Award

“This is a great recognition of the prestigious work the Gibson Custom Division continually produces,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar. ”The Jimmy Page Signature model has been an enormous success since it came out and to work along side of such a legendary performer was remarkable.”

You can’t make this stuff up.

That's a completely different guitar than the late 90s Gibson USA model. That one was Custom Shop only, insanely expensive, and much closer in spec to Jimmy Page's actual #1 Les Paul.

So the one in the press release was actually good?

That's the general consensus AFAIK. They didn't make very many, so I've never seen one in person. The late 90s version was basically a glorified LP Standard of that era.
