I might be wrong, but i think he was consistent untill then !
So other Zepplin-Guru's will be able to give a more accurate answer.
I am sure a Les Paul into a Tonebender and Marshall VintageModern will get you there !
A LP into MKII into a VM will NOT get you even in the ball park of the first album IMHO and really not much on the 2nd - 4th albums either...
I would say that for a Page style fuzz a (good) MKII is closest and will work very well for most of those those tones...he did use a MKI from time to time as well as several other variants...loads of different fuzz pedals found themselves under Jimmys foot in the old days however I woudl say that a good MKII clone woudl be the best all around choice...

Didn't he use a tele, tonebender mkII and a little combo amp for the first album or two ?
I'm honestly not that big of fan of Page, at least not enough to really pay that much attention to his rig, but like most everyone, I do enjoy the music lol
I've got a Tele and LP, a few Marshall style amps and the TBmkII clone, so I'm well covered. I was just listening to I, II and IV and noticed a lot more fuzz on II and IV than I remembered. Of course I is stright up Tele and TB.

I think that Jimmy is easily one of the most over rated guitar players ever and Zep is the same as a band but I have and d listen to my fair share of Zep...yes the first album was all tele, tonebender and small(ish) supro amp...

Yeh right on the tone. I think the first album is the best tone wise, playing wise and song wise it is my favourite Zeppelin album although maybe it draws with Houses Of The Holy I ca agree that Zeppelin IV is a slightly overated album but some of the stuff Page could do live (I mean not in hendrix's league mind you) was quite amazing with keeping in time with the rest of the band with his strange phrasing (much more inpressive then Santana in my opinion!)

It sounded alright however it didn;t sound much like Pages tone to me at all and on top of that it was not one of the classic Page tones that uses a fuzz box...
