Here's a helpful tip. In the production world we use something called a 'reference track'. This is when we A/B our mix against another professionally produced song, preferably one that is stylistically similar so we can go back and forth to check that all the levels and frequencies are sitting in the right place. This isn't necessarily for copying other mixes outright but if gives you a good frame of reference to make sure nothing is askew which is much easier than approximating, finding out it doesn't cut it on other media and having to overhaul it and makes the mastering process a lot easier too.
