Joe Perry's LP in AI Finale?

Anyone knows what model Les Paul was Joe Perry playing in the recent AI finale?

I'm thinking of having a LP built for me with a Wilkinson VS50/100 trem for quite a while now. I thought I was decided on a TV Yellow LP Jr but with a trem... until I saw that performance.

It's a Custom Shop with a Wilkinson, I saw it on another web site a few days ago. in other words its not a model, just custom made for Joe Perry

Gibson Custom Shop fans and guitar geeks the world over got a thrill last night when Joe Perry played a one of a kind Les Paul Axcess on the season finale' of American Idol. The guitar has a Wilkinson vibrato, a single burstbucker pickup, gloss black finish and a single concentric knob with both tone and volume controls. The guitar was totally Joe's idea and exceeded expectations.

For any gear heads with Facebook, look up/follow/ add Robert Kantor Guitars. He's a guy in NYC that decorates guitars with Swarovski crystals for stars, but almost every day he posts a rare guitar or custom shop guitar, and he posted that Joe Perry guitar a few days before it was shown on TV.

IMO it's still a bit ridisulous, IMO any guitar with a trem needs either a locking nut or straight string pull headstock

Yeah but it's most likely gonna get played once or twice on stage, then be sold and hung on a wall never to be plugged again. Seems to be the fate of a lot of these 1off guitars.

Very cool. That's not a curved top right? I wonder if they'll every release the full specs on that guitar.

Edit: from a facebook page, the guitar is a curved top link. I wonder what the neck angle for that guitar is. Probably similar to the Axcess.

I doubt it's the same as the Axcess, most likely the same neck angle they use for the Les Paul with Schaller trem.

No, wilkinson trem.. Locking nut wouldnt be ness if the keys are locking like they did on that GOM explorer with the floyd

I was watching a recent Aerosmith concert on VH1 and Brad Whitford's tone was much better than Joe Perry's. Joe was just a sloppy mess and Whitford's tone was strong, resonant and precise. Whitford was playing a strat with what I believe were Kinman's and Perry was playing a different guitar for every song. I just thought what a complete waste! You bring 20 guitars and 20 amps onstage with you and you sound like ass. Meanwhile your counterpart has a stack and only one guitar and plays circles around you.

Brad's always been the better of the two.

But Joe looked better on MTV back in the day, and that carries a lot of weight with the general populace.
