Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

Yeah, seen these vids.
Kinda shocked at how he could make it sound somewhat fizzy though, because these the Mark IV is known for having a baby butt smooth sound

Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

That would surprise me, too, because typically once an endorsee changes gear, the previous endorser removes anything related to that player immediately. I saw this video on Mesa Boogie's homepage last week.

Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

He is still an endorser of Boogie, but has been using the Axe for about a year now. I thought everyone knew as much as it has been talked about.

This came to me from the Boogie rep.

Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

His tone sounds good to me. I don't care what other gear he uses because I'm sure he won't give up tube amps for any kind of processor. That's actually a better sounding tone than some of his videos. John is known for mad soloing skills but his rhythms are what I enjoy the most about his music. His rhythm tone sounded pretty good there. I would like him to do a video with the new rectifiers.

Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, but this is not exactly a secret or anything.

JP has been using the FX live for over a year! Five minutes and Google found this video of him warming up before a show using it in his rack.

Re: John Petrucci showing his Mark V

IIRC from some pics of his rig he's using both currently ... as far as I can tell why not? Best of both worlds.

No issues here! You see his endorsement for the FX in most of the guitar mag's. along with D. Zappa and the rest of the 50 or so other users they show. Axe FX system is supposed to be the cats meow when you need to get the tone but can't take all the gear with you. Dwezil loves it according to the last article I read in GP, and he still plays both tube and FX. Just curious as to why John does not mention it on his Web Site.
