Johnny Cash Style

Just watched "Walk the Line"...great flick. How does Cash's guitar player make that "Chugga-Chugga-Chugga" bass sound that you hear in the beginning of Folsom County Blues. It almost sounds like he's palm-muting on the low E and A strings and playing a pattern down them. All this while the drummer is banging out that beat that sounds like a train. I know it's pretty straightforward but I can't find any tabs that go over it. Thanks!

Re: Johnny Cash Style

Form an open C chord and add a low G bass:

Pick the 3rd fret, 5th string C note once;
Pick the 2nd fret, 4th string E note twice;
Pick the 3rd fret, 6th string G note once;
Pick the 2nd fret, 4th string E note once.

Repeat forever until the chord change (F) and then do the same interval patterns in that chord's key and so on.
