Don't forget the three Marshalls...I used to rehearse at Daily Planet in NYC and the Ramones came in after us (yes, they rehearsed). He could have played a ukelele thru those amps and it would have sounded the same.
you actually WANT ramones tone?
eh, somethin for everyone i guess
Oh yes Drew, in fact looking at your caption, i think Johnny was the natural extension of Chuck Berry really... all punk was 50's rock'n'roll being re-stated.
Man! How can you not love that guitar sound. I mean, years ago i did the whole shredder trip, heavy blues etc.... but now i seem to love guitarists like Lou Reed, Neil Young, Zappa, Ramone... all the guys i used to think 'sucked'!!!
Dont think i'll go as far as getting the Mosrite though. I just won an Edwards Les Paul Junior P90 on ebay. I'll see what that does.

Thats what I was thinking bro.
so i'm not alone, cool
anyhoo, to me, throwbacks aren't innovative, unless they bring something new
like flogging molly & dropkick did with punk & irish folk songs
or how the stray cats mixed rockabilly with every rock genre that had came out since
