So.........when do you get it?

I want pics dammit! And recordings!

Yeah, still working on the recording equipment...but can do pics when it arrives. It should go out Monday or Tuesday, so I'm guessing in a little over a week I'll has it.

Re: joined the Splawn club.

This comment is not a bashing, only an observation that I have made on several different occasions. On those occasions, I have noted eBay sales of Splawn amps wherein the internal wiring or lead dress are depicted in photos. Now, I'm no amp builder, but I thought that the wiring was entirely too sloppy for a guy that makes a living at selling these amps. Conversely, I was looking for a vintage Marshall 100 watt 1959 Super Lead board preferably with mustard caps and the old original Marshall components. I met up with Jack McCallister of Mouradian Amplifiers out of Spring Hill, Fl who convinced me to let him install his board with vintage components into my Marshall 74" SL. Now with the update the 74' Marshall is more like a 68' Marshall SLP and the lead dress is immaculate. Most other builders would charge out the ying yang for what Jack did to this amp, but unfortunately Mr. Splawn's lead dress turned me off of using him as a restorer. Maybe his amps are really the S---, but I wasn't willing to take that chance with my 74'.

Re: joined the Splawn club.

Is the Splawn capable of playing at these so-called lower levels?! I've never tried!! :) :)
Unfortunately, this is one of the biggest downfalls of Splawn amps.
These amplifiers do not have a very good Master Volume (like the XTC, Landry, SLO, Elmwood, Diezel, etc,) and need to be turned up quite a bit, or it's fizz city.
Definitely not a bedroom amp, nor one of my favorites.

I always heard the SLO had to be driven pretty hard to get good tone. ??

Elmwoods intrigue me too.. The name of my hs alma mater was Elmwood. I hated that school, so would be a freaky twist to my life to have an amp of that name..

IMHO, the SLO sounds pretty darn good at lower levels, but just amazing with the Master up at about 2:00.
Lets face it, every tube amp sounds better when you get the power tubes cooking a bit.
Some amps have a decent Master Volume & some (like the Splawn) do not.

Re: joined the Splawn club.

Made my last payment this afternoon. I couldn't be more excited. It shall rule. Any tube suggestions, or whatnot?

I just love Adobe Photoshop, even if you really managed to get a peeled lime skin on that cat's head without being shredded, I sincerely applaude you sir.

Not my cat, but I suppose Connor would let me do it. He's pretty laid back.
