Yea, dude! Line 6 rocks! Awesome sounding riffage by the way...reeeeelly nice! JOLLY, where are you in mid tn? I'm in knoxvegas. You playin' shows? If so, let me know when.

We use Line 6 Flextone III XL 2x12 combos, and we'd GLADLY put them up against ANY half stack rig we've ever owned (we've owned some nice ones too). To get the tone we have on the recordings I posted here earlier, it literally took us like 5 minutes of tweaking. I think it's funny when people say the line 6 distortion is "muddy"...hahaha! Listen to JOLLY'S stuff and our stuff....NO MUD THERE!

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

Jolly, you always post very cool tunes here man.... This one was no expeption. It rocks very hard. It reminded me of some of Tony Iommi's really cool riffs...

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

monstrous groove you got there, man..good stuff =) Black Label Society fan are ya? =D

what kinda amp you usin'?

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

thanks guys...I appreciate it!!:) The amp I'm using is my trusty ole Line6 AX2/212. It was their "flagship" model about 4-5 years ago, but they discontinued them. XSSIVE, I've never even messed with a PODXT so I don't know if my settings would work with one or not. Believe it or not, It's not that high gain of a setting. The gain's only at about 25% and I'm using a modeled tube screamer at about 50%. dewserb, I'm in Murfreesboro man...let me know if ya ever get over this way. The amp/cab model is a modeled Marshall JCM 800 with a simulated 4x12 greenback loaded cab. As far as the BLS comparison....I can dig it, but the thing is....the only BLS I pretty much ever listened to is what's on their DVD. Most of my riffs do have that BLS vibe to them. I just like heavy rock with a good groove. I have alot more heavy groove type riffs that I'm going to put on a soundclick page. Thanks again everyone!! mucho gracias:)

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

my band and I were at a bar where there was a cover band playing not too long ago..the guitarist had an older line 6 combo amp....I'm wondering if it wasn't the same one you've got? anyway, his sound was really good..I wouldn't have known it was a modeling amp if I didn't see Line 6 on the face...

I've never tried using a tube screamer model in front of another amp model...maybe I should give it a try..one thing I have learned is that to my ears, running my vetta with no cab sims sounds better..but I think I'll try to set something up with the tube screamer tonight at practice =)

Thats exactly what I've found with my Flextone when playing with a band.

The way I see it, is you can't expect a 2x12 to retain the bass response of a 4x12 at volume...

LMAO HarrisonDavid....I just noticed your avatar of the pandas looking like KISS....that's cool!!

I love Kiss Bro! One of my guilty pleasures my wife hates. My wife actually found that pic for me I automatically knew it represented me best!

:notworthy

While I like technical riffing with a lot of melody like power metal or just speed death and thrash! I absolutey LOVE The FAT riffing like what WITH FULL DISTORTION said Down, or stoner groove black Sabbath, ISIS, Mastodon, BLS Cathedral. You can say alot more with slower FEEL riffs like that. I find myself listening to that stuff more, Groove playing, like Zakk and Dime. Oh and if you haven't checked out Damage Plan Give it a try sounds like Heavier grunge type stuff on some songs.

:offtopic:

Speaking of......I might sneak out or con my wife on going to that AIC/Damageplan Benefit tonight. If I do I'll let you guys know about it. I hope They do work together with Pat Lachman hes an excellent vocalist/guitar player. Though im with alot of you here I wouldn't call that project AIC.

OH and JOLLY! :notworthy

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

I liked it. Somehow I was envisioning Ozzy singing over it. I like your feel on the lead lines....nice and melodic. Cool stuff....now get your ass outta hicksville, and start a band! ha ha ha All you need is a good singer and the rhythm section will fall into place.

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

I would have to say that that KILLS any of the sound files that Line6 has on their site. You are a great tweaker of Line6 and a great player. You changed my opinion of Line6. Rock On!!!!!!

Re: Jolly's New Heavy Riffage!!

Thanks GJ. I figured the best thing was to keep that little lead fill simple and melodic. Thanks for the compliment Mkf411
