JP100d Quilted Maple vs. Koa Top?

So there are two options for this beautiful award winning John Petrucci signature guitar by Sterling (Music Man). One is the Quilted Maple top (Blue) and the Koa top (Sunburst). I've heard that the Koa brings tremendous resonance and warmth to the sound, but I can't get my hands on either to test drive. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or opinions on this topic. I'm also looking into a Jackson pro dinky dk2m for trade from my friend.

Just wanted to let you know there's one for $480 at MF right now.
It says $530 but that's before their current 10%-off scratch&dents.

Ya never know if there's more than meets the eye with these, but it doesn't look like much at all in the pics.
They've always been fair with returns for me in the past,,,,,,but I'm not sure on their S&D-return policies.

I'm all for deals but I'm really trying to avoid a damaged guitar if possible. Should I just get my friend's pro dinky dk2m for $500? its in great condition. Or is there another guitar your recommend me looking at?

Personally I'd rather have the dinky-pro anyways because it's a double-locker,,,,,but then again I only own/want guitars with double-lockers.
