Searching the forum a few months ago I found a thread mentioning Jon and his affordable custom winds, and I shot him an email about making a super mismatched humbucker for me. After a few email back and foruth we settled on a pickup that would end up at about 11k, with a 4/7k mismatch. Alnico 5 magnet.
Quite similar to the 59' Custom I found out later.

Got the pickup a couple days ago and couldn't be happier, top notch workmanship, and sounds just awesome, my best humbucker ever... :)
It cleans up incredibly well, better than any humbucker I've used before, really sparkly cleans just rolling your volume control down with a hi gain amp.

Was about a month wait, a killer deal for $95.

Here's a couple VH clips using it. It's installed in a 83' Kramer Pacer Special, the amp is a EVH 5150 III 50w, 2x12 EVH cab, Sennheiser e906 into a Line 6 UX1.

Man, the set he made me per my design is still one of nu favorites. Same idea was yours, bit hotter in the bridge though. A8 bar and a5 slugs. Neck pickup bit underwound, middle humbucker extremely underwound.

Very little came close... maybe only some hybrids I made, but non had that 3D quality too them.
