Just a quick question for those w/ Mahog bodies.

I just got a Strat body all African Mahog. which is a very warm tone wood. I don't want the standard mahog/ebony combo for the neck I want a flame maple. The question:

Is the maple neck bright enough to balance well with the mahog body?

I'm thinking yes, but ya'lls experience is greatly appreciated.

Its just a thing I have for flamey maple. I've always wanted a guitar with a crazy flame maple neck. I'm thinking this body would be great to bring my flamey dream to life!

^ I'm not sure about the pups. I was thinking something vintage toned, may be something from Bareknuckle.

i had a mahogany body super strat with an all maple one piece neck. I thought it was too middy. I think that it is best suited with a maple/rosewood neck.

+1 on the Ix-Nay for a Maple Fretbaord on a Mahaogany body Start. You could go exotic like my Rosewood/Ziricote neck on my Walnut body Strat, or just get the Maple/Rosewood.Then again, Mahogany is sooo warm and fat sounding, It may not make a huge difference, but as far as looks go, i dont think i would love it love it love it with an clear finish/Tung-oiled Mahogany body and a Maple neck.Its your baby thne thing-if you ever decide to sell that beautiful mahogany body let me know and I will stop wahetever it is Im doing and make a bee-line for it!!

Over-analysis is the name of this thread.

Your body may be mahogany but that doesn't guarantee that it will be inherently bright or dark. You won't know until you have strings on it.

That said, people have been building custom Strats with Mahogany bodies and all-maple necks since the first time Wayne Charvel used a soldering iron, and it's a combination that has worked well over time. Theoretically, it should sound pretty good, but that's about all you can assume until you start putting it together.
