Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

I guess it's all in how you care for something as well as how you pack it for shipping, aside from that most everything will last and hold up until something happens. Unless its a 1984 to early 1986 Kramer banana headstock with that weak luthier joint. Those break if you look at them wrong. <True story.

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Well FML....
The person told me that his uncle took it to fix it and now I won't see it until next week...

Hope the guy knows anything about anything... Now I'm out 5 bucks for buying glue ha ha ha ha

If it sucks, I'll just get a new neck.

20:1 odds that neck will be unsalvageable after "uncle repair"

Unless you manage to reheat the glue

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Can you dudes give it a break with the comments??? If the OP is a REAL guitarist he was probably already paranoid as sh*t while waiting for the guitar to arrive this before the “uncle twist”!!! LOL!!!

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Maybe I should change the title to read..
Hey I bought a beat up Randy Rhoads body for $40
Ha ha ha ha. Still a good deal.
I've got an OFR ready to stick in it and probably a decent bridge pup lying around somewhere.

....searching ebay for decent Jackson neck on the cheap ha ha

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Are you sure you didn't buy an ICEMAN?!?!?!?!?!

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

If you don't have a decent bridge pup lying around, let me know. I have a homeless TB-4 atm.

I like you. And I don't even know you!!! LOL!!! At least you've got a sense of humor about it.

As for eBay: you not learned your lesson yet??? LOL!!!

Don't give up: "uncle" might just be doing a good job. Strange things happen when you least expect them to!!! LOL!!!

And don't forget it's a Jackson i.e. OFR needs to be shimmed for the 16" radius. You know: "do it proper" because that's a nice guitar (well: the pieces of it that you may or may not have that is!!! LOL!!!).

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Found this while looking for something else. Jackson headstock repair. Made my skin crawl seeing that broken headstock though I’ll tell ya.

https://mcconvilleguitars.blogspot.com/p/jackson-guitar-repair-broken-headstock.html

Just realized it is something to watch out for i.e. from time to time I check the tightness of my tuners and sometimes one or two of the nuts have worked their way ever so slightly loose. Pretty sure that overtightening those nuts could cause something similar too.

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

Well ****ing finally!
I guess the uncle had it for a long time... I was beginning to think it was a unicorn or Sasquatch Iceman guitar and wouldn't ever materialize....

But it's home.
Performer, got some minor flame to it as well.
Looks like an easy fix.

Re: Just bought a broken Jackson RR

I was very pleased to get notified of your posts above!!!

Well done. FINALLY it has arrived. Congrats.

In just looking at that break I'm almost sure that it's a combination of the tuners being over tightened and then the slightest bang on the headstock results in a break because the headstock is already under pressure at that point.

Ironic that it's the same thing as I posted about above (just before your latest posts).

Well good luck. You certainly do have more patience than I do that's for sure!!!!

Please do be sure to keep us updated on the progress i.e. I for one would love to see, and hear, the finished product.
