Just purchased a ibanez sz320 with a hardcase for $190
Just wondering what people thought, I've seen nothing but good things

I've had one for almost 10 years. Given how cheap they usually are, they're a steal.
$190 with a hardcase is ridiculous! Unless it's severely beat up or something.
Mine sounds thick as hell. The hardware's pretty solid.

Yours has no-name pickups or Duncan/Ibanez?
The 2nd gen SZ had some Duncan/Ibanez pups that IMO were excellent, based on the '59 and the Distortion.
Mine's a 1st gen and currently has an A2 Pro neck and Screamin' Demon bridge. Sounds gorgeous.

Duncan/ibanez pups, set neck, dot inlays and pretty good condition, scratched but looks solid and good for the money

I used to have one. Went through a million pups with it. Sounded nice, though. Suprisingly, even though it had a thick mahogany body, it was pretty bright.

It had a killer fat but comfy neck profile. The bridge was comfy! If you plan on swapping the pups, though, keep in mind that the bridge is wider-spaced. It's spaced like a Floyd rather than a Tune-O.

The stock tuning machines weren't great. Otherwise solid guitar.

I kinda miss it. It was my first decent guitar.

Mine's black just like that one. definitely sounds in the thick side of things with some slice on top.

I've had a Dimarzio Breed, a JB, a JB8, an A2 Pro, and a Screamin' Demon in both positions.
Man does it look sexy with EMGs. Makes me wanna drop a 57/66 set in mine because why not.

Mine sounded the best with an EMG 81TW in the bridge! I had almost every EMG model that was available at the time in it, lol. 81, 81X, 81TW, 85, 60, 60X. I also had a Super Distortion in there for a while.

I had 2. One was stolen - white with a crazy 8 and duncan/Ibanez neck. One I traded to Kac for a strat - black stock.

Just received it today in the mail and tuned it to drop c# and it feels awesome

I've always found the neck more wide than fat. I like it but it could use taller frets.

IMO it's a damn manly guitar. Dependable and super solid overall.
Sounds very attacking, it's a great Hard Rock/Metal guitar that can do Les Paul-ish sounds if dialed in well.

Mine has 10-60 strings tuned to D, sounds like a grand piano.

The strap pin has been relocated, the tuners appear to be upgraded and the necks been sanded back to satin
Currently set up in Drop c with 12-68 elixir baritones

Awesome guitar! Those black pickup rings look great on it.
I also have one in black, from the same year (2005) and I love it. Many seem to agree they are a great platform for modding and changing pickups. Those Duncan/Ibanez pickups are great as well, just a little too hot for my taste.
Mine now has a 59/custom hybrid in the bridge and a 59 in the neck and it sounds awesome and very versatile.
I've spray painted the pickup rings to a vanilla color, makes it sound more sweet
The guitar is very alive and screaming with harmonic overtones. It has 11-56 strings, tuned to open C major.
I also have a SZ520, which has a mahogany neck (SZ320's neck is maple) and sounds a little more midrangey. It has APH1s which bring out that character well.

Congrats! I want to say that my 520 was either $200 or $300 (can't remember), but it didn't have a case. So I'd say that you did pretty good. Mine has an EMG 81/85 set in it from the previous owner, and they sound alright, but I'm wanting to do something different with it. I'm thinking Phat Cats.....

Agreed. Wonderful guitars for the money, and they really hit the happy medium between a Strat and a Les Paul, IMHO.

They didn't. Those are aftermarket.
