Just bought a new Air Norton Cheap... what to do?

OK, I was in my local GC and they were blowing out some nice stuff! As I've been on a "collect pickups" kick, I laid down $30 for an Air Norton. Figured I couldn't go wrong at the price.

I listened to the clips at the DiMarzio site, the Air Norton just screams! Very musical and in both positions. At this point, I'd have need of a HB in the neck position of several teles or either position in a PRS Singlecut SE. With the SE, I can pair it with a Scr. Demon or a Demon 8 variant. Or a Phat Cat at either position etc. Tele-wise, I could mate it to a SD-JD bridge, Rio Grande tallboy bridge, Fralin Hot Blues(?) or a cool, clear, punchy narrow twin-coil Anderson TM-Series bridge pup. I'd appreciate an thoughts/opinions!

Just looking for ideas.

thanks and take care,

Re: Just bought a new Air Norton Cheap... what to do?

Hi Jason,

I have an Air Norton is the neck position of my Telecaster. It is one of my favorite neck pickups. It's like a PAF but bigger. I have used it in several guitars though; and have always loved it. In ash, alder, basswood, or poplar, it has always sounded great. It will also do the split/parallel thing well too.

To me, the obvious solution is the Air Norton in the bridge & the Phat Cat in the neck of the PRS.

Thanks for the input! So I have 1 for the A.N. @ the bridge with a Phat Cat and 1 for the A.N. @ the neck in a tele. I'm probably going to end up spending a weekend installing, listening, swapping, listening some more, ect. LOL I need to find a buddy who'd like to do the same and get a pair of irons burnin'!

On a side note, I love and prefer Duncan pickups to any other single maker. But after spending some quality time on the DiMarzio website I came to realize how underwhelming SD site is. DiMarzio has tons of clips of their pups being used by numerous artists in various guitars and music styles. It is so mush easier to get a real feel for what a pup can deliver on that site. I wish the Seymour Duncan site could do something more than the brief clips that often leave me unable to hear a whole lot of difference from pup to pup. Anyone else think the site should be revitalized? I just love nice pickups and have a special liking for the SDs, that's all.

I have one in the neck position of a mahogany guitar and it sounds very 'semi hollowish' and is great for blues tones. I imagine it would be great in a fender neck position.

+1. The SD site sucks. It's not polished, professional-looking, particularly easy to navigate for newbies, or even very helpful. It does have a great forum, though ;)
