I just got a used TTC from Guitar center and it didnt come with an ac adapter... my question is will a radio shack adapter work if it rated at 18 volts/1 amp? The guy at guitar center said it would but on the back of the unit it says to only used the same ac voltage so now im confused...

You need a SD adapter for it.

Using anything else is risky.

Contact SD. They can help.

BTW, I think I still have the original adapter that came with mine (before it was replaced). It worked; however, the housing had come unglued/broke. I taped the housing back on and used it until I received a replacement.

What does the back of the TTC say as far as Volts and Amps are concerned? Also, what type of plug is required? (Standard barrel or something else)

TTC= 16 volts 600ma

Radio shack= 18 volts 1amp/1000ma

Ooh, I'd stick with the SD adapter. Unless you can find a 16V (is it AC output?) with at least 1A output and matching polarity.

I've got an EHX Wiggler, and that thing uses a funky adapter too. Sometimes it's best to stick with the OEM.

Trust me on this...stick wiht the CORRECT voltage/current...in the case close is not good enough.

Email Duncan support and they can help you get one easily.

I'd call or email SD.......they'll shoot ya' the correct adapter :D

Never replace something that calls for 600mA with something that is 1 Amp. That is a recipe for disaster. Besides, the correct voltage is important for a tube.

why would you not use a supply with greater capacity? ... the unit will only draw what it needs ... some would say that an over spec'd supply runs more efficiently ...

agreed about the voltage. both magnitude and type

Amperage and voltage are completely separate. Voltage needs to match. Amperage on the adapter just needs to be equal to or more than what's required by the effect. Polarity is critical as well. Check for center + or - and make sure it matches on the adapter and the device.

Oops, read it wrong. 16V, 600ma or greater is what you want. (although 1A is fine) Also, is it AC or DC? That makes a big difference too.

Anyway, if Duncan will send you one, go for it.

Re: Just bought a Twin Tube Classic... no ac adapter and i need HELP!

Guys there's no center - or + because it's AC voltage. Don't power it with a DC adapter. That's the biggest thing it seems some are forgetting as they pass out advice. We do sell that adapter. You just have to call or email in to Customer Service.

Sorry, I was talking about adapters in general. I should have specifed that.
