I have an A2P set in my SG . . . LOVE IT !
Iam pretty sure you will like the neck unit too, because they sound like a perfect match to my ears, regardless of what amp i use !

Do they work decent for metal at all? I am TRYING to diversify my playing and use less palm mutes and metal type stuff.... particularly in our band but every now and again I have to get it out lol. I know the 59 works good but how about this?

I can do metal with my A2 pro's. but you need a hot amp to do it. but yes they are able to do metal. i wouldnt classify it as "metal" but the first velvet revolver album has some pretty hard stuff on it and slash uses A2 pro's in all his guitars and he does some pretty heavy stuff with 'em. The hardest they will do is metallica stuff, good harmonics when pushed hard. but they wont do like slayer/death metal stuff

Yeah I have one in my Epi Black Beauty and I absolutely LOVE it. It's definetely one of my favourite pickups, if not THE favourite.

im into slipknot and pantera ect and i tell you the alnico does the job. and yea there is that bit of seperation which makes the overall tone tighter and really defined in my opinion.
i have a 94 5150, a dual rectifier, a 73 marshall 50 watt (plexi i think). i run them all through 100 watt marshall cabs loaded with early 90's greenbacks.
Killer well rounded tight tone with all these heads.
a buddy of mine has a bogner and a tri rectifier so im checking those out tonight.

thats what i thought of too when i was doing alot of chunk style stuff - the seperation, the alnico in my opinion has great definition at any volume
example would be when you roll off the volume you gradually are getting a cleaner tone but your not losing the definition of that tone. the bottom mids and highs are still there. it doesnt get thin sounding. gotta love that!

Man, I love AP2's clean, but I like things with A5 mags more driven. The top/bottom aggression of A5 sounds better driven for chording to me. The AP2 clean is so sweet though. I go back and forth between my 59/C5 LP and my AP2/AP2 LP. Now I just need another guitar for my JazzN/59b set.
