Just busted a nut...

No pun intended. Can anyone give me some suggestions for a replacement nut material. It's going on an a L.P., (no trem...).

Re: Just busted a nut...

Hi,
I suggest genuine bone. That's what my luthier uses. Are you going to make it or have it made? I usually have my nuts made by my luthier - I can buy nut blanks but can't make the nut slots nice and tidy. Just one of the things I choose to entrust to a pro.
Good luck!

Bone is good. I use Corian alot when I make nuts also. Corian is very good. It sands easily and polishes very well. It will polish to a sheen that is brighter than a plasitc nut.

I'm a big fan of the Earvana nut...it has the slipperyness and tonal properties of graphite, and it really does improve intonation.
