I love the Humbucker bridge / neck single setup!

Sounds like with a JB and an SSL you'll have a very functional range of tones.

Did you finish the body with just oil or did you oil it and then coat it with clear?

Wow. that is beautiful! I too really like the H/S setup on a strat that and S/S/S are the only ways to go on a strat if ya ask me. Very Kool!

Just the Waterlox Tung oil. Their formula contains resins that harden. So as you add coats, it builds up to the surface. I added a little stain toward the end because the color was weak. It was a kind of experiment. I may refin with nitro lacquer when the weather warms up.

I did this walnut bass body with Waterlox but stopped coating when it started to leave a sheen.

Re: Just finished a project 2-pup Strat

very sweet build!!!

.. i keep swapping pups in my recent build.. started with an SH-14 in the bridge (very mid honky but really approaching an early VH style tone) and an stk-2 in the neck (nice but a little muddy in my gtr with a korina body/maple neck) .. then a '59 in the bridge (VERY weak compared to the sh-14 as expected but it almost sounded single coily with the 500k pots. I have a lil '59 in my tele and it sounds fatter there with the 250k pots and ash body)

I am now on a 1/4 pound in the neck and a distortion in the bridge.... which so far I like best. The distortion is aces for slammin thick rock/metal stuff and really makes my jcm 800 scream and my mesa just pummels you but as you expect with a pup named "distortion" it doesn't clean up that well although it is still useable. The 1/4 pound gets me to my favorite kind of neck tone which resembles a p-90 but still has some spank.. great lead tones on that when driven hard though.

congrats on making yourself a sweet guitar!
