Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

So, still lovin' it after a month or so? I played the 20 not too long ago. It sounded alright although I must admit a bit on the harsh side, but I'm guessing a few days of hard core rockin' would fix that.

I'm still loving the amp, never tried the HT-20 but the HT-40 definitely Rocks and like any new amp you really need to break it in.

Just added the HTV-112 extension cab, sounds great having an extra speaker to pump some volume!

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

The Stage 20 is fantastic for playing at home, but I own the HT Stage 100 because I plan on gigging, and it is fantastic. The gain and power of it is amazing, and I'm running it through a Marshall 1960A cab. I just simply love it. I think Blackstar is a good symbol of how "budget" amps nowadays can be just as good as anything that cost hundreds of dollars more.

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

i have the ht20 head and i absolutely love it. i liked it when i bought but after about 2 weeks of rocking with it, the tone really started to come to life and now i love it.

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

They seem alot smoother, granted, I have the 70/80 in the combos and the WGS in a ported cabinet under it. Running both cabinets by themselves, the WGS loaded cab sounds much better. But, a true test would be to swap the speakers between the cabinets and see how much is from the cabinet and how much is from the speaker. If I get a chance to try that I'll let you know, but don't hold your breath waiting on me right now, you might get a little blue...

Thanks for the info, I'm in no hurry to change out my speakers just yet but if a good deal should come a long I may try it!

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

Bumping up for some info. One just came up locally for $500. I'm looking for something to compliment my Shiva - something with more gain allowing me to get into modern tones, something tight, a different flavor.

How does this thing compare to a DSL 50 or a 5150, both of which can be had in the same price range? Thanks!!!

Re: Just Got a Blackstar HT-40

Just thought I'd bump this up one more time. I'm going to try it out tonight. Any comparisons of tone to other amps?
