Just got my EVH Flanger & Phase 90

Came by UPS today about 3pm. Hooked them up and played my LP Standard through a Crate BV 60 with a 4x12 Jensen cab & an open back 2x12 Texas Heat cab. I really like the Phase so far. I have been playing it with the "Script" mod on and it is so much better sounding than the regular 90.

I haven't toyed with the flanger as much yet, though I did play with the "Unchained" switch, which is a dead on EVH super swoosh sound. So far I like it too.

I was worried that the pedals may be very noisy and hiss like my Wylde OD, but that is not the case. In fact they make no noise at all when turned on.

I'm really happy with the sound they are giving me, give it a few months and we will see if I am still happy with thier reliability.

i've got a dead EVH phase 90 in a box of junk parts that wishes you luck with the long term life LOL.

the sad part is stupid thing can't even be fixed since they build them with such cheap sub mini parts. :grumble:

i hope yours last longer than mine did because when they do work they do sound real good!

I noticed the flanger seemed to have more attention to detail than the 90. The paintjob on the flange is like an automotive paint with clearcoat and the 90 is more of a screen print looking job.

Also, I was wondering if anyone else owns the flange, if they could recommend some settings.

If you like the "script" sound, stake out ebay for a real script Phase 90. :)

As far as the Flanger goes, I think the Unchained sound is all knobs at 11 o'clock except regen which is maxed out. I like to bring the regen down to about 10 o'clock and nudge the Depth up a little. More subtle, very nice with cleans I think.

Thanks, I will try that setting here in a little while when i get woke up. I ended up playing with them last night til about 2 in the morning. I made a wonderful tone discovery. I had my pedals run in this order last night,
Morley Power Wah
Rotovibe
Wylde OD
EVH Phase 90
EVH Fanger
Russian Small Stone Phase

I was going to compare the 2 phases I have last night. With the 90 set at 9 oclock with the script switch on and the Small Stone set at around 10:30 ish with the color switch down, I am getting the most full and lush tone I have ever been able to acheive. I LOVE it!

Anyone one else tried "stacking" phases?

Re: Just got my EVH Flanger & Phase 90

This is the first time I've ever heard a complaint about the EVH Phase 90.

It's an awesome pedal, with awesome construction & awesome parts.

The "script" switch is invaluable. It seems to have neon in it, and "glows" in the dark. The blue LED is practically the brightest in history, it'll fry your eyebrows off.

Re: Just got my EVH Flanger & Phase 90

your right about the bright nlue light, when I look down with the lights dim, it completely blinds me. The new Dunlop power bricks also have a blue LED instead of the old red ones, me likey!
