Just got my guitar port. Having Issues...

Mr 9finger

Digitally Challenged
Got everything hooked up right according to the setup instructions and I'm getting no sound.

I've tried multiple ways of hooking it up and currently I have it set like this.

Guitarport set as my default Audio device in my audio manager.
Speakers plugged to the in on the guitar port.
dual 1/8" cord plugged into the headphone out of the GP to the line in on the soundcard.

The LED on the guitar port is orange. All of my possible volumes are turned up. The compressor is off. The software shows that it's getting a signal. I've double checked all of my cables and they are good.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to why I'm not getting any sound?

Do you mean your desktop speakers are going to an "in" port? I would think they would be hooked to you pc as they always were if your feeding your sound card.

According to the manual, the best way to hook this thing up is to run your pc speakers into the headphone jack of the Guitar Port and set your default audio device to Guitar Port and it will act as your sound card.

I'm looking at it online and it does look too simple to mess up :). Its got to be something with the config on your pc. Is your sound card onboard? Maybe it needs to be disable in the bios. Another mistake I always make with my soundcards is getting the little plugs confused. Meaning the in , mic and speaker plugs. If your like me your under your desk, reaching around in the dark.

Logic tells me you need to go from an "out" to your speakers, and from your PC to the "in" on the GP. The GP I used to have connected to my PC via a USB cable, and I went out to the speakers from the GP.

OK, I'm still not getting any sound. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and now it's saying I have SSL connections enabled in Internet Explorer. How do I do this? I don't see any options in IE to enable SSL?

Umm, just plug the speaker jack into the headphone port. Thats what I do.. you dont need the other cable. You also dont have to mess with the audio settings, just leave everything else as is. Guitarport works all by itself, all you need is to hook it up with the USB and run gearbox. And a guitar..

SSL is under the advanced tab of Internet Options

You don't say that you have it connected to a USB port on your computer. That is required.

Have you tried restarting your PC?

And made sure that, not to insult your inteligence, you've checked all the stupid little things? Like PC volumes, speaker volume, the volume on the unit(if it has one), and so on?

Re: Just got my guitar port. Having Issues...

I've tried **** near everything w/ this thing. Swapped all the cables. Double checked all the volumes. Tried different USB ports. The only things I haven't tried yet is 1/8 to RCA adaptor and a shorter USB cable. I've even got a friend that's going to bring over his laptop tonight so we can try it on that. If those last three things don't work out, there's a Line 6 Service Center in Ft. Wayne or Indianapolis that I can take it to and have it checked out. Both of them are w/in driving distance for me.

I also posted my questions at the line 6 forum and they seem to think it might be broken as well.

I hate it when something like this starts to make you question your sanity and/or intelligence :laugh2:, good luck getting it figured out bro.
