Just got some Antiquity Surfers...WOW!

I finally decided to pick up some Antiquity Surfers for my American strat a few months ago and put them in yesterday. What an improvement over the stock p/up's! I don't think I put my guitar down all day, everything sounded more lively and organic. I would just like to thank everyone here for all the reviews and knowledge on these p/up's. There is a lot of great information on this forum that made my decision all the more easier to grab the Surfers.

Cheers everyone!

Excellent! I use a set in my main strat, but only in the neck and middle...I Like a Twangbanger normally in the bridge or aa Antiquity A2 Texas Hot Custom. The surfers are phenomenal pickups!

thats what I am going with. I already have them, just need to install. good to hear u like em!

Re: Just got some Antiquity Surfers...WOW!

I want to buy a strat just so I can have surfers haaha! Ive tried them in a 2 tone burst '57 Reissue strat and it was easily the best sounding strat Ive ever played and it was probably the best in general strat Ive ever played, just because of those pickups!

Nice to hear........ I have a set I am planning on putting into a Strat I am putting together. The project stalled a little, but I should get it done withion a month.

Re: Just got some Antiquity Surfers...WOW!

The Surfers are the best Strat pickups I've ever used. I like them better than the stock pickups in my old '63 Strat...and those are some great pickups too!

The Surfers are stronger, livlier and ballsier...like if you could pick the three best sounding pickups out of one hundred from 1962 or 63.

They remind me of the pickups in my step brothers original '62 Strat...I compared his '62 to my '63 and always felt that the '62 Strat had slightly stronger tone.

And, of course, the 9.5K to 10K Surfer Custom bridge pickup was a needed improvement, IMO. Never liked stock vintage Strat bridge pickup sets where all three are identical....makes the bridge pickup seem weak and ice picky.

10-4 to that Lew! And my only battle I've ever had with a strat!

I really hope the new Duncan Alnico 2 Custom Shop Tapped Strat bridge pickup based on the CS Tapped Tele Hot will capture the tone of the CS A2 Tele Hot. If it does, it just might be the best Strat bridge pickup ever created. Lew

Did you guys get that rolling Lew? I'm so into cosmetics that I kinda back burnered the idea.

I talked to Frank F. this morning and got the impression MJ was working on it. They will be black though so that she can use a Tele style exposed bobbin. They'll have either cloth tape or black Tele style waxed string wrapped around the bobbin.

I'm definately in for a couple!

That's exactly the way to describe the effects of nice pups in a guitar-my thoughts exactly. I have the Texas Hots, but would love to try the surfers.

I'm glad you like 'em!

Cool....I'd be so happy if I could sneak a cover over that thing!

I agree with this 100%. The stock bridge pickup was very thin and weak sounding... very lifeless. The Surfer Custom just has that extra vibe going on. :)
