Hey guys,
Okay...so I had a guy install a JB in the bridge of my Carvin C66. He did it wrong the first time because he didn't look at the instructions from Seymour Duncan. When he finally wired it like it was supposed to be, it sounded great.
Now...I just installed (myself) a 4 conductor 59n in the neck of my guitar. I had a Carvin H22n (Holdsworth) PU in there and it was a pretty terrible match with the JB. I restrung and plugged in and it works. I just followed the diagram again for 4 conductor wiring that came with the pickup. It was the same diagram that I got with my JB.
So did i do this right? This was my first time soldering a PU into a guitar on my own. I put the PU in screwed it down and once i got the wires seperated, I soldered the ground wire to a bare ground wire that Carvin installed that connects from vol. pot to tone pot. Then, I soldered the red and white wires together and then soldered them to the 2nd open hole on the selector switch.
The green I soldered to the next hole on the selector that the bare ground and the green wire from the JB are both soldered to. Then, I soldered the black wire to the same point on the selector that the black wire from the JB is soldered to. This point also has a white wire that goes to the vol. pot.
Anyways...does this sound right? I was a bit confused that the diagram from the 59 was the same for 4 conductor wiring as the JB bridge PU. I did check the PU and yes it is a SH-1n not a bridge PU. I was also a bit surprised that there wasn't as much lead line on the SH-1 once I got it put in as there is on the JB. I barely uncovered any wire from the SH-1 and that was about it for lead line. If i have to cut anymore, I may be a little short.
Any thoughts would be appreciated...
