Just installed industrial castors on marshall cab...MAN THEY'RE GOOD!!!

As some of you may know I got an old Marshall JCM800 Lead 412 a while back with old greenbacks in it, but it had no wheels so I haven't been able to take it anywhere yet. I got myself some screw on castors from an actual castor company (Fallshaw is the brand I think) and they are so good! The really crappy Marshall ones sell for about $25 a piece just because they're specialised...well these Fallshaw ones that are higher quality than the ENGL ones I've got cost me about $9 each and the rubber on them is so good that they should be much harder wearing than anything guitar manufacturers have ever used. The only hitch is that they are screwed on permanently which is really solid, but I can't just slip them off and on whenever I want. A cool thing though is how hard it was to screw in the screws, and how it made me get a nice blister right in the middle of my right hand from the screwdriver...so it must be nice birch ply because it was so hard to screw into!

They are awesome though, and now that I can take that cab I'm going to take my Komet with it to rehearsal tomorrow night and blow the heads off my band as well as everyone else in the building :D

i remember i installed some castors on my old bass amp (when i used to play bass) and the ball beaings in the castor kept rattling. man that was annoying.

damn, i'd like to play through a real birch cab.

Sounds great. I think a 4x12 with good casters is easier to move than your average 2x12.. except that you can sit on a 2x12 and ride it lol :smokin:

Those 4 greenbacks are going to sound great with some volume.

I used to have a hard time keeping Marshall casters from getting sheared off when gigging a lot. Those tiny screws they use are ridiculous. I solved the problem by replacing the screws with thin bolts/nuts.

Here's a tip for next time: pre-drill the holes. This will actually make the wood stronger and save wear and tear on your palm.

Just a thought...

I did pre-drill the holes...or as they say in the industry, drill "pilot holes" only one drill-bit size below that of the screw...and it was still hard as hell! :D

Well actually three greenbacks and one g12h30...but they still sound awesome with some volume ;)

I need new casters for my cab (one of the mis broken, almost lie the bearings shot), I'll have to check that out.

Wow! That IS some hard wood. You sure it was birch? Sounds more like oak or something.
