Well I just got finished installing WCR Darkburst/Goodwood combo. This was my first time soldering and installing new pups. I practiced for a while on some different things and it came relatively easy. The only problem I had was soldering the ground to the back of the pot onboth pickups. It was tough because I couldn't make a good physical connection with something. It worked out fine but I had to use a soldering wick and re-do the neck pickup ground. It doesn't look pretty but it's connected. Anyone have any advice on this? My guitar is a SG 61 reissue. I'd be interested to here your opinions. I used 60/40 rosin core and a Weller 40 watt iron. Also, I researched soldering before attempting the job and made sure to tin tip . With the ground, it was hard to just heat the wire and apply solder after tinning because of there is no physical connection when grounding to the back of the pot.
