Ok, I have a Jb and a Stag Mag. I love the tone of the Stag Mag split in the neck and in the bridge but i don't like the full humbucker tone. I don't like the JB either... too many upper mids, no bass.
So an idea came to my mind.
I can make an hybrid pickup with the SM and the JB but WITHOUT the magnet bar that ussualy comes in a standard humbucker. This way the only magnetic flux will be the one produced by the slug magnets of the SM coils. This hybrid will be humcancelling and it's output will be maily produced by the SM coil. The tone should be close to a single coil pickup.
I know some treble will be cancelled since the JB coil will capture some magnet field from the slugs, but It seems like a nice experiment.
Any opinion/suggestion?
