Years ago, I repaired a 58 Gibson Les Paul Special. Some idiot sprayed flat black paint all over the guitar badly. I stopped it down to bare wood, cleaned and reinstalled the pickups, electronics and pickups. This guitar blew my mind when I plugged it in. I almost cried when I had to return it to him. I asked if he was willing to sell it and he said no.
This new build is somewhat an attempt to recapture that sound, but I am limited by my lack of funds. Black limba body and neck, dual humbucker (someday I'll contact Seymour Duncan/Maricela to custom wind me some Antiquity or Vintage spec Phat Cats with Dun-aged magnets) for now, 59/JB humbuckers, ebony fretboard and headstock laminate, trapezoid inlays, jr. controls. Parts are stuff that I now have on hand.
