Here for help again
As the title suggests, I just ordered an mxr Supercomp (compression pedal) from one of the local stores today, It SHOULD be in within the next week or 2 (then again the Dunlop DC brick I ordered 2 weeks ago is on backorder so...) So I thought I'd ask a few quick things BEFORE it comes in.
Obviously I'm going to play around with the settings when I get it, but I'm just looking for a quick guide so I'm not completely lost when this thing comes in. I understand the basics of compression so I'm not a complete idiot! I was hoping to post what I want ou of this thing and I was hoping some of you could help me out with some settings or guidelines to follow! So here we go:
-First off, this is NOT the DYNAcomp but the SUPERcomp, which means it has "output", "attack level", and "sensitivity". Here's what I want it to do (this is what I will be using it for 90% of the time, I might goof around with some other settings for fun sometimes!):
-Using on clean tone only
-To be used with my h/s/s strat
-Looking for subtle compression, not a squashed sound
-Looking to KEEP dynamics, so you can still hear the accents in strumming (think RHCP) but not to have those annoying peaks, also when doing the hendrix-style r&b guitar, the hammer ons and pull offs are a bit more even with the rest of the chord
-To make sure if I accidently hit a note too soft, my noise gate dosn't close on it
I think that's mostly it. I use chorus when using my humbucker on clean, and thats mostly for arpegiated passages, that will help keep that more even (and this is where my last point on my list applies to, due to my metal band). I think that's about it! Thanks in advance and feel free to ask questions or clarify anything!
