Just saw this on Stewmac

Re: Just saw this on Stewmac

this would make me say no:

NOTE: On some Les Pauls, particularly LP Customs, the neck angle is not sufficient to allow the FRX to work without slight modification to the body. The receiving portion of the spring tension transfer rod on the baseplate extends slightly below the bridge and may rest on the body unless a tiny channel is routed.

im not routing anything in the top of my lp

Re: Just saw this on Stewmac

That thing appears to be nearly twice the size of a regular Floyd...holy crap!

I think Floyd Rose pretty much lost his/their aptitude for innovation right before those double-bullet-ended strings and bridges came out a decade ago.

Re: Just saw this on Stewmac

Doesn't Kahler make something that replaces a Tone pro style bridge?

Re: Just saw this on Stewmac

FRX installs have successfully occurred with Gibsons - the SG CM and Les Paul CM Black came stock with the FRX installed.

If one had an LP Custom, one wouldn't want to put a Floyd on it, anyway. That is just too nice/expensive a guitar to deface. At that $ point, just get an Axcess.

I think the FRX is a cool idea, but there some relatively affordable guitars around that solve this problem already, like the Shred Les Paul Studio and the Epiphone Les Paul PRO/FX. One could also hunt for the SG Diablo Tremolo or the Dean Gran Sport Floyd.

Come to think of it, Dean, Schecter, and ESP all put Floyds on TOM-style guitars to varying degrees.

Lol yeah I think its pretty ugly as well, like I said im not into floyds just thought I would pass it along

Re: Just saw this on Stewmac

I can't stand vibrato bar stuff on LPs/SGs at the best of times
