Just snagged a Prosonic head

Well stupid me traded my last Prosonic head even for a mint 3 month old Marshall TSL 60 head last year. I just never could get the Marshall dialed in for me the Prosonic had more gain and was much much more expressive and tonefull. I couldn't find another Prosonic head so I STOLE a mint Blond Oxblood Super-Sonic off The Gear Page in November and sold the Marshall to pay for it. Nice rig but no match for the Prosonic combo I have tone wise. Seems like I allways found myself wishing I had the brought the Prosonic with me instead of the Super-Sonic when I had it out on a gig. So I finally broke down and snagged another Prosonic head last night off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220224150125&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012 . Man I can't wait to get this one and tweek it in!! I hope it turns out to be as good a sounding one as the one I traded off :naughty:. Now question is what am I gonna sell ta pay off tha card? Will it be one of my guitars and I keep the SS or should I just dump the SS head and the new matching Avatar cab for the pair of Prosonics? That is tha question hmm .
One thing that is NOT in question is whether I will sell off another Prosonic unless I have more than one!!!!! I just can't seem to play anything else anymore. After playing a Prosonic for a few years now it seems nothing else "feels" right

I've heard the prosonic helps you keep a clean set of chompers too... :)

Congrats on being reunited with a lost love.

The clean channel is a killer as well as the crunch but I don't know about it cleaning my chompers LOL.

Re: Just snagged a Prosonic head

I've always toyed with the idea to get a Prosonic but I'm not sure if they'd be tight enough under heavy (Mesa Mark series style) gain. Are the channels footswitchable?

Yep they are footswitchable. I actually much prefer the high gain tones personally of the Prosonics to the Boogies. I find the Prosonic to be much more touch and tecnique synsitive, expressive and "alive" feeling than the Boogies.

Congrats!! Let us know when it arrives!! I know how fond you are of this amp model.. Ive never played a prosonic or tone master (tone master cab in the photo), but I do like the Super sonic. Thats the only fender amp Ive ever played that I like.

Does that mean it cleans up nicely when you pick lightly or roll the guitar volume back? I love that in an amp! When it transitions from clean to breaking up, is there a sound like tearing paper or is it a smooth, seamless transition? I always look for that.

I'm real happy with my Super Sonic, but I would love to be able to do a shootout between it and a ProSonic. I don't usually go for tones with the gain maxed out, though the high gain tones I can get from my Super Sonic sound quite good. But I usually play with a moderate amount of gain. Enough to sound crunchy, but low enough that individual notes in Rush style arpeggio based riffs or AC/DC riffs each stand out. I'd love to hear how well a ProSonic handles that medium gain riffing. Right now, between my SuperSonic, my Genz Benz El Diablo 60 head, my preamps - Mesa Boogie Formula, Hafler Triple Giant, and Yamaha DG-1000, the Super Sonic or the DG-1000 probably do that the best. But I'm always wondering if there's something out there that does it better.
