This was my first time, and i got it right. I couldnt figure out what kind of magnet it was but i know it is alnico. Anyway i plugged it in at it sounds awesome!, more mids, smoother top end thick lead tone overdrive sounds alot like black sabbath riffs (perfect), not shrill in the hi end like the custom, i am very happy with the result saved me a hundred bucks on buying a new pickup.
From my conclusion i think it is a custom custom with an alncio 2 mag.
It sounds a bit thicker when split, not as edgy as the custom, and the cleans are no where near as sterile. It also matches perfectly with the APH2 in the neck. I think i found the tone im looking for.
