I'm looking for a pickup for a Tele (shaped) build in the planning stages. There will be a Filtertron style pup in the bridge position and I want to try something very different (for me) in the neck position. So let me have your opinions of mini-humbuckers ... obviously, Seymour Duncans first, but I'm interested in your experience with any brands.
In my experience, single coils sized humbuckers and P-90s both have, as would be expected, a place between single coils and full size humbuckers in 'fatness' for lack of a more descriptive term. Is it possible that mini-humbuckers would fall between P-90s and full size humbuckers in fatness? I know there are many variables ... choice of magnets, wire gauge and type and on and on and on. But generally speaking, what do you think? Again, my primary goal is to use a pickup I've never used before, and I'll probably wire it with a four way switch for series and parallel combinations with the Filtertron, and for several reasons I have no desire to split coils.
