You know, what isn't bad is one of those Modern Player Tele's. Really good bang for the buck, and you can get all kinds of sounds from them. They also play and feel great.

No, we should chip in to get him a strat with an EMG 81/SA/85 setup, Floyd Rose, a maple neck/fingerboard, and stainless steel frets.

While I freely admit to enjoying a P90-equiped Telecaster, to my ears, two of the critical factors in the Gibson Junior/Special recipe are the scale length and a stud-mounted bridge/tailpiece.
