good deal? photos look like good condition, stated as good working order..

i'm stoked, the front panel looks like it's got all the features i'll need.. high/low pass, graphic EQ, effects loop, crossover jacks, chorus, footswitchable... etc

thanks skarekrough for the tip though - i've seen nothing but good reviews and it's the cheapest i've seen any amp of this power rating go for!

anyone already owned one?

yea, that's a good deal for a good bass head...I used to use one for a power amp for my Mesa Boogie studio preamp...sounded just like Prongs Cleansing tone.

im thinking of selling my compressor and bass chorus if this amp delivers on the FX front.. to be fair the two together would be about the same price as the amp itself in the UK :laugh2:

i think the main reason for the price was the fact the guy put 'V111' instead of 'VIII'.. hours of browsing the auctions has finally paid off

and now for a cab! (gets to it)

Even if you wanted to, you will not be able to kill that amp. It'll probably sound pretty decent, too.

i've heard they sound a bit clinical, so i might grab a little tube preamp or something to warm the sound up

it's a small world K_R, i'd never even seen a mark VIII before! i bid £100 :smoker:

I use one at the practice rooms. It can be a little clinical, but in the mix its just solid, loud and punchy. I run it with a rat II for some dirt. Sounds evil. Thats with a Highway 1 P bass.

sweet, every gig we're getting is DI-ing the bass anyway.. it's loud and has all the connections i want! gives me something to work with on stage as well..

only problem is the rat-ass fur coating :laugh2:

oh yeah, that stuff pics up all the crap it touches. Never do an outdoor gig under something that drops seeds. Be pickin them suckers out for months.

i think for a cab i'll pick up a cheap small 2x10 (like a no-name thing) and put good speakers in.. i'll keep the forum posted, with celestions it'll sound sweet

it arrived, and jesus christ. this is one heavy heavy amp. i've walked a mile or two with my DSL401 in one hand and a guitar case on my back, but i really struggled to get the box to the bus stop here.. definitely gonna look at neodimum (sp?) magnet speakers, or else i'm gonna have a hernia before 25!

opened the box and kyuss_rock was right, it's covered in what looks like dog hair, but it's embedded. time for a session with the hoover and a hairbrush

it's big as well, 'lower' and 'thinner' than a marshall head but a fair bit deeper. i still can't get over the weight!!

Yeah....they're heavy beasts. My Mark IV head was heavy AND weighted off-center.

The silly thing would run for a year and a day though.....I beat that thing savagely and it always ran like a champ.
