Just Won This On Ebay!

Re: Just Won This On Ebay!

congrats indeed. i always loved the banana yellow color but i cannot vibe with scalloped fretboards. i really tend to dig in when i play and bend notes so it just doesnt work for me.

still an awesome axe though, congrats on the new score!

Congrats man. Those are awesome. I really want one too - to shred on... Can't go wrong - USA fender, stacked humbuckers, nice factory scallop, brass nut... .... Just can't go wrong

I definitely will be getting one down the road - after I get a soloist SL2H. Other strats I want are: Clapton, SRV.

Re: Just Won This On Ebay!

In regard to scalloped fretboards, if they weren't scalloped, a lot of shred guitars used to use very tall jumbo fretwire. Many still do I'm sure. I used to have a shredder axe with frets so tall I could see light under my finger even when fretting a note. My finger never contacted the wood on the fretboard. Same effect as scalloping.

While I don't think I've ever playd a scalloped fretboard, I do find that tall frets make for a better physical connection between the string and the fret. There's less chance of the note suddenly dying on you because you accidentally released the pressure on the string while bending or something.

Nice score, Yngwiestein! Shred on!

Sorry dude, I didn't mean that I wanted to make a YJM strat, and I wasnt knocking your guitar. What you got is a killer, killer guitar. I was just saying that the YJM model has made me want to put a scalloped board on my MIM strat. Congrats on the axe!

I know bro you're a cool guy. I was just saying that because I looked at doing that too except I priced everything out at Warmouth. It just wasn't worth the hassle because I'm not into building. It would be fun project though.

Thanks bro. I played a few Deans with humungous frets and they were really cool. The American hardtails are like that but expensive. I've been thinking about getting jumbo fret wire put on my EJ strats.

I think it looks cool.... and as long as you're happy with it's all good. It's got a vintage vibe going on for sure.
