Re: JV Strat + Vox TL + Carvin Nomad Clip

What are you throwing in there for Dimarzios?
Good tone and playing.
That amp sounds nice, aren't those only like 18 watts?
The Carvin Bel-Air (not the Nomad, that was a typo) is a 50-watter with two Celestion G12 v30s. It's got 5 12AX7s and four EL84. On the clip it was running at about 1.5/10 volume. I've run it full-out before and the clean channel is gorgeous! It's almost a mix between a Fender and Vox clean, as it's got that EL84 vibe but it still has the balls a Fender brings.
What they say about the dirty channel is true: it can get a bit muddy, but I plan on doing a few simple mods to it (which I've heard make the amp sound like a 10).
The nomad is a 50-watter as well, with one Celestion G12 v30.
The tex-mex p'ups sound good but they do hum as single coils do. I'm planning on playing out a lot more in the future, and I'd like the guitar a bit quieter. I'm throwing in a DiMarzio Virtual PAF (F-Spaced) into the bridge, and some noiseless SCs into the neck and middle (I'm leaning toward the new Area 58s or 61s). I've found that I really dig the versitility of an HSS guitar. Might put a coil tab switch on the Virtual PAF or maybe go for a "neck-pickup-on-in-series" via a push-pull knob.
I really like the tex-mex pickups, though. I'm thinking of keeping them and putting them in my Godin strat (going to try series wiring a la Brian May and make into a project).
EDIT: Oh, and the Vox TL has been bashed to hell for its distorted sounds, but to me it sounds amazing once you put it through a tube amp.
