Spent the past few days playing around with a new idea and this time I decided to take more time with it and try and think the parts out more instead of recording as I wrote it.
instead of basing it all off a riff idea, (as I have done so many times in the past) I started with a basic rhythm idea around the drum line, then wrote the bass and built the rest of the song around that foundation.
I tried leaving a lot more space in the song and give each instrument it's own voice, rather than jamming it all together.
Here is the finished piece that I called "Faceplant"
Soloing still remains my weakest point, but this time I was trying to focus more on a solid composition.
A bad song with a great solo is still a bad song, but a solid song with a fitting solo is still solid and maybe even elevated a bit because the parts fit properly.
