JVGD - Greco - '73 "Gneco" SG600

Greco - '73 "Gneco" logo SG600

Early set neck, FujiGen I am assuming. Looks original except the bridge, Gotoh but not likely as old as the guitar. Greco embossed Maxon Pat Panding pickups which date it to '73 and super clean star back tuners.

Got a few battle scars but it's super solid, low but useable frets. Came up locally and I couldn't resist. Not sure I'll keep it but wanted to have it for a ride anyways.

Very cool! Love the embossed pups.

This one would be a Matsumoku build; they moved to Fujigen around '75. Think you're right about the bridge; the factory ones had small springs acting as retainers for each saddle.

I wouldn't argue that because I just don't know other than to say this doesn't have the vibe of a Mats guitar, the bolt neck versions 100%. This build is much more inline with a FujiGen guitar, I'll have to go in and look at the routs. Pots also match up to other FG builds but they could all source from the same place.

Well I was thinking I would flip this guitar since I got it for a song but it didn't really get much action. I ended up really liking it since I kept it out and was playing it alot and well.....

I ended up fixing all the dings, dents, chips, small cracks etc., reinforced the neck joint, re-freshed the pickups, wet sanded and buffed out the guard, sanded the whole thing out and now it is at the shop for some red touch-up and new clearcoat. I'll have it back in a few weeks to cut, buff and reassemble.

More guitars than brain cells
