Kahler Are they / Were they coming back?

Seems like every time i hear about kahler they're going back to making trems again... but it's been almost 2 years since i initially started hearing this stuff - does anyone have a solid answer? what's up with kahler?

I keep hearing that it's gonna be full on in May..

nothing official or anything .. just what I keep hearing through the wine vine.

I'd say Floyd Rose put them under.

Notice nobody was making any LIC by Kahler trems.

I've always thought the "O" floyd was a much better piece of equipment. some say the Kahler sounds better .. I dont agree .. but would be cool to see them make a comeback.

I shred...sortof. I'm to young to know about any other FR than the orig. and all the licenced ones. I know Kahler makes a bass bridge. I saw it on warmoth.com.

Why did they quit making them in the first place? Some type of buyout?

They were sued by Fender / Floyd Rose over the Steeler and (almost totally obscure) Killer Trems ;)

I thought it was kinda funny that fender was part of that lawsuit.. I realize they owned FR at that point.. but the steeler's used to come stock on the HM strats.

in that same lineup was the spyder and the killer. nice metal names.

it looks like they're gearing up the website.

kahlers are basically a hardtail strat bridge and a floyd rolled into one....it does sound better and sustain better......also....anyone can route it onto their guitars.....kahler=time saver=cost efficient since it's easy to route the cavities

I wouldn't say the original Kahler was like a hardtail strat or like a Floyd. It was more like a Bigsby, not in looks, but in concept. It had stationary roller saddles, and an independent tailpiece that pivoted to release or increase tension.

OK, maybe with some imagination, the saddles do make it kinda look like a strat hardtail:

Ok people. Listen carefully:

Yes! The Kahlers are coming back! To answer the original question.
Gary Kahler is now controlling 100% of Kahler International.

Kahler 2300 flat mount guitar bridges and bass trems will be available by May 2004. And no it's not just a rumour, it's really going to happen.
Gary still has all the original machinery and tooling.
He is wating for the parts to be made for him so he can start assembling the units.
I have been in direct contact with Gary Kahler and his business partner Tony Saccoia for a long time now. All my info is straight from the source.
I'm sure the quality will be as good or better than it was.

Spencer Sercombe of the band "Shark Island" was the first person to play a Kahler Trem live on stage. He was also the assistant manager at BC Rich in the late 70s/early 80s.
Just some more trivia for ya.

Neal Moser from the B.C. Rich board:

"..Why did Kahler go out of business? I really don't like to put it like that. I don't believe that Kahler totally went out of business, the company basically got leased to someone else who didn't do a very good job of taking care of business. Kahler trems have always been available in very small quantities. However, they did go through a period of non production. I really shouldn't be talking too much about this because I'm not fully informed and I don't want to put out any incorrect info. I also don't want to call Gary and "pick his brains" about why the company had problems. He'd probably rather forget about it."

I have a custom Jackson on order that needs a black Kahler 2300, so I'm waiting just like everyone else. Gary has been made aware of my guitar waiting at the factory and he has promised that as soon as the first unit is assembled he will put a bridge aside for me. So it's nice to know he is directly involved in making sure my Jackson gets a Kahler.

Once Kahler International is fully up and running again and the various models are available again in large numbers, you should be able to get them from Kahler directly or any guitar dealer who is willing to place an order for you.
E-mail Tony Saccoia at:
kahlerusa@adelphia.net

And he will hook you up with Kahler.

That´s great news. It is said that there were some 300 000 trems made, and syddenly there were no spare parts! And the Kahler trems are often said to be real good. Jim Shine on the FDP, he knows a lot about elecric guitars, prefer the Kahlers before Floyds.

the trems that came on the fendcer HM srats was the spyder. kahler was sued by floyd for puttig out a non licensed trem, that performed exactly like a floyd. i saw one on a bc rich bitch platinum neckthru, from the early 90's.
