Keeper Pickups?

Re: Keeper Pickups?

The only one I have, that I've had for a while, is a DiMarzio Super Distortion that I bought in December of 2001. I'm tempted to put it into my SG but it's not covered. Knowing myself, I'll decide two weeks later that both pickups need to be covered in order for it to look right.

Re: Keeper Pickups?

I swear by Seymour Duncan Seth Lover's.... I cannot see myself using any humbucker other than those.

I've had them in three guitars, including my custom Heritage H-535.

Re: Keeper Pickups?

Oh! I also have 2 Slash signature pickup prototypes that he used, and rejected. I don't have a guitar to put them in, yet.

Re: Keeper Pickups?

i have a lot of pups not in guitars, great pups even! id say i need more guitars but i have too many of those too.

Re: Keeper Pickups?

Keeper pickup? hard to tell, but I love the sound of my 59n with a polished A4 in the neck of one of my les paul

Re: Keeper Pickups?

A set of the original UK exclusive Custom Shop Whole Lotta Humbuckers. The guitar they went into was originally going to be a guitar I try out various pickups with. I was even going to put mini quick connect plugs to do just that. But once these went in, I can't really bring myself to take them out again.

What was Custom Shop about them? How were they different?

Re: Keeper Pickups?

I don't know if I'd say I have "Keepers" other than whatever is in a particular guitar that I plan to keep. If I run across a good deal on a cool pickup or pickup set I'll snag it for something. Now I may resell it if other needs develop for something else for a project.

At this point; I wouldn't want to give up the Hybrid Custom Custom/JB A2 Trembucker that I picked up from a Forum Bro and has resided in my USACG Iceman ever since. I'm holding a Slash Neck/Custom Shop '78 TB along with a Vintage '86 OFR for whatever might come along that "tickles my fancy" project-wise. These days, other than my recent Ibanez '87 RG550M Neck/'91 RG570FM Body Project, I'm more likely to pick up a solid complete guitar and swap pickups and poss the OFR into one rather than bolting together a body and neck and seeing what happens.
