keeping it fresh

shred me good

New member
decided to jam along with rids backing track for watchtower thinking that i knew the song well and could make an impresive solo for it, perhaps to post up here so people could here me play.
unfortunatly after the first two veses i ran out of material to play.
the melody i had created, sounded pritty nice at first, wore thin and it felt like i had to introduce some kind of new flavour.
so i played the track again thinking i knew what i had to do, but same thing hapened again.

so my question is this;
how do you solo over 3 chord for 4 muinets and keep it sounding like you could play over it forever?

Re: keeping it fresh

v good! i must say though that the nilony guitar sounds loads better than the lead, which sounds slightly out of place. i can see what you mean about changig your aproach, you use some nice pedal tones in the half before the distorted guitar and the part just after it is near perfection!
damn fine!!

Re: keeping it fresh

listend too it again and i like it all now!!!
what kind of style is this? and what kind of practice do you do to play like that.
i usualy just practice runs and swweps and taping and stuff but thats all balls when you can play like you do!
what should i be practicing?

Re: keeping it fresh

Style = My style :)

I practise technique yeah, mostly to get my picking and fretting hand synchronised, boring crap like chromatics.. but thats only to keep up my technique

The only advise i have is to just play over a load of different backing tracks and make your own solo's over them.

Try as many different styles as you can and eventually you'll be able to play whatever style you think fits over whatever track

Dont just limit yourself to shred, sometimes another approach works better for the track
