Kemper Profiler PowerRack

Re: Kemper Profiler PowerRack

its pretty awesome, I want one! wonder why axefxII has not done this combo rack yet. not in the market for either, but if I was I would be wondering about repairs if something goes wrong do I send it to Europe...

Re: Kemper Profiler PowerRack

No amp should ever require firmware updates...

That's a little outdated thinking my friend. Technology is not all bad. I am not a tech head or a technophobe, I certainly don't like tech for tech's own sake but there is some great useful gear out there. Not for everyone I understand but neither is the "no amp ever" ideology.

(this said as I am having a MIDI war with my Line 6 DT head:grumble: - haha!)

Re: Kemper Profiler PowerRack

I'd like to see solid state technology flawlessly emulate the best that tube amps have to offer, but until then I've got 2 tube amps that make me grin every time I turn them up.

Re: Kemper Profiler PowerRack

I will admit I am proudly anti technology when it comes to my guitar equipment and I don't think I'll ever change.

I don't want any digital amps, digital switching, digital controls...it's just not for me.

The other side of that is if someone is not anti technology that's fine for them.

There is plenty of equipment out there for us all and the way I look at it is this...if someone buys a digital amp that leaves one more tube amp out there for me to find!

FYI, there's a difference between Solid State and digital.

These guys used solid state (not digital) amps:

Quite a few others like Tommy Victor, Dino Cazares (also used digital), members of Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse, and more used solid state amps.

Back on topic, I had a Kemper and it was great for what it was, but it did have some serious limitations. The fact that you can now load IRs into it will make it better, but only if you can completely separate the existing profiles from the original sampled cabs. I think once they come out with a second iteration, I'll probably try it again.

For you tube guys, the Kemper would probably sound better to you than it did for what I wanted.

Re: Kemper Profiler PowerRack

I was lucky enough to get the first Kemper Profiling Amp brought into New Zealand when it first came out. Back then, I thought it was a magnificent and immensely powerful studio tool - I profiled my Marshall AFD100, a Rockerverb100 and a bunch of others, and it came pretty damn close. However, when I tried to go direct to PA for a band practice, I found that it couldn't cut through at all, which kinda killed it for me - if I can't use it onstage, I can't use it.

It'll be interesting to see if this new addition of an integrated poweramp, to allow you to more easily use it in a traditional way onstage (i.e. into a cab) will help that at all.

They will now that Kemper have done it.
