Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

Thanks for the help and pics guys! Would real klusons be an improvement over the modern lookalike ones? Having no extra mounting holes at the back of the headstock would be ideal.

I've had these before and liked them.

I have these on three guitars and haven't had a single problem with them, which is basically the same tuner but six-in-line.

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

Easy way to tell:

REAL Klusons say "Kluson" on the back.

Gibson almost Klusons say "Gibson Deluxe"

And I effing HATE Klusons!!!!!

Doesn't Schecter, Schaller, or someone make a really nice Kluson copy????

Bottom line - there are all sorts of tuners I prefer (including current meh Grovers) to Kluson.

No - NO NO NO!!!!!

And do not worry about the "extra hole", a tiny drop of glue, let dry, and sand it off.

Gotoh ultra-high ratio here:

Gotoh makes a nice, solid Kluson copy.

WD/TonePros owns the Kluson name, but I have zero experience with their version.

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

Tone Pros makes Kluson tuners that use the small holes. They are more robust and have a higher gear ratio than the Gibson Deluxe tuners.

THESE!!!!!!!!

If you must go Kluson style. And you mustn't. And I don't. But if I did - THESE!

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

I've always like Sperzel locking tuners on my LP-style guitars. But right now I have a pair of Gibson LPs that both have regular Grovers on them. I'm cool with that. I do like the look of Klusons, but can do without the flimsy/sloppy feel.

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

Got Gibson Deluxe style tuners on my gibson. They are rubbish, but I have no tuning issues which is the main thing. Does amaze me though, I have guitars with hipshots, grovers, to no name tuners (presumably cheap) and these gibson ones are the flimsiest of the lot. I won't swap them out unless they stop working or if they break, but I am watching this thread to note what tuners I can drop in should they need replacing.

Re: Kluson replacements on Gibson LP

I would go with Tone Pros. Like the Kluson or Gibson De!uxe, but they have been modified to be the best, and I have never had a problem with Tone Pros. I think that they stopped making Tone Pros in May, so get them before they're sold out.
