know anything about BC Rich?

I like BC Rich guitars and I have the pick-ups and pots of a Gibson Les Paul. Would a BC Rich NJ Beast's tone be improved by the addition of these pots and pups?

Re: know anything about BC Rich?

Tone is subjective, but IMO, yes, depending on the Gibson pickups you have. The Gibson 490/498 set did not work in my LP so well but they found a permanent home in my NJ Mockingbird. New pickups, along with quality audio taper pots, should be a good improvement.

The hardest part of selecting new pickups for the NJs (mine's an NJ Classic) is the maple neck-through construction and ebony fretboard. The tone is very bright and the attack is snappy and strong so you'll want to search for pickups with a softer top end. I also found high output pickups to be too harsh in the 'bird. The stock BSDM pickups are too bright, thin, and high output for those guitars, IMO.

While I love SD's, that really makes me think that DiMarzio is where you ought to be looking for pup's for that guitar.

Are BSDM pickups really that bad?

Look for the "Worst sounding pickup ever" thread.

The BSDM's won the contest...

ANYTHING, even a squier humbucker would sound better than a BC Rich bucker. So yes, PLEASE change them.
