Koch Amps?

Re: Koch Amps?

I never owned one.....only hear one from a guy tradeing it in I ran across GC to see what sound that was.

At 3500.00 go kiss a stick......it was a 50 watt 1x12

That's far more expensive than the prices I've seen. It looks like the only one near that price range is one they call the Super Nova, but is like a 200 watt head or something. Now that I've seen it online, it has some awesome features. What an amazing amp head.

Re: Koch Amps?

They're pretty rare stateside, and most of the people on this board aren't the type who'd own one. Yyou'd be better off asking over on TGP

Re: Koch Amps?

Again I only saw one and it was a 1X12 combo the dude selling it was a doctor the price was retarded.

Agree on all counts. I have a friend in London who has one of their heads and he loves it, but I've not heard it personally ...

Re: Koch Amps?

Well the prices aren't that bad. The most expensive one on Musicians Friend is $2246. I am surprised actually because they seem to be really well made, MF carries them, and all of the videos of them sound great. Most of the good information on Koch amps is the Studiotone but I don't think that's going to be loud enough for what I want.

Re: Koch Amps?

I don't own one but I think its a solid amp. I would say it is probably not a metal amp but for classic rock, blues or even jazz its a great tool.

Re: Koch Amps?

How do you pronounce the name? I'd worry about my mother calling me, and me having to tell her that I'm in my bedroom playing with my Koch.

Re: Koch Amps?

I owned a Twintone II Combo for a couple of years. I never tried it with an external cab or with another speaker. I think I should have.

It's very well built. Neat, sturdy, all that I could hope for.

The clean tones are gorgeous and the spring reverb very tasty. Definitely on par with the best ones I've tried out. I didn't really try it out with pedals.

The overdrive tone had great definition and nice dynamics. In the end it was too bright and thin for my taste. I had treble and presence at zero and it just went to sounding worse without getting enough meat without the brightness. It also maybe lacked a bit of gain for some more extreme metal I was playing occasionally.

In the end I sold it because I couldn't get all the tones I wanted. I get them with my THD Univalve. If I had a chance to own multiple amps I'd love to get one. It does its own thing very well.

Koch amps are reasonably priced here in Europe. The Twintone Head costs about the same as a Marshall Head. Also about half of a M/B Dual Rectifier. Shipping costs, taxes and import company cuts can be obscene.
