Koch Twintone II - Intial report

Just got her in. I am very, very impressed. I have always been a 3-channel guy and this amp is right up my alley.

Tested with Tom Anderson Cobra S dual HB PUPs

Clean Channel (1)
- one of the best I have ever plaid through - robust, chimey with gobs of note definition - when I dig in the notes just sing. Liked it better than the clean channel on the Fender Prosonic I used to own and rivaled that of a 1954 Fender Tweed 1x15 bandmaster I played through a few times. The reverb is lush, and really adds to the quality of tone.

Overdrive (2) Superb crunch channel, perfect for blues, rock and classic rock with a lot of warmth and dialable tone

Overdrive (3) Boost channel - nice high gain capablity here, again the notes just seem to sing when I dig in.

So far I like this amp better than my Mesa Mark IV which I have gigged with for years - tone is better on all three channels and unlike the Mark IV I can't seem to dial in a bad tone on the Twintone II.

At $1965 (1x12 combo) it is a little pricey, but well worth it in my book. As a 50W dual EL34 amp it's a keeper! For Grab n' go small clubs this amp is hard to beat.

You can get this amp at Musician's Friend along the whole Koch line.
